Sushi is an all-time favorite roll of almost every person. It is very costly to go to a restaurant every time whenever you wanna enjoy sushi. So don’t worry, today I am gonna teach you how to make perfect restaurant like sushi at home in just an hour.

Ingredients for Sushi

Make sure that you are having all the following ingredients before start making sushi. 

 

Main ingredients for sushi

  • Raw fish/salmon fish
  • Sushi rice
  • Bamboo rolling mats 
  • Roasted seaweed sheets (Nori) 
  • Soy sauce 
  • Rice vinegar 
  • Wasabi 
  • Pickled ginger (optional) 
  • Pickled cucumber (optional)
  • Sugar and salt 

 

Ingredients for filling

You can choose any vegetables or even fruit of your own choice for the filling. I am mentioning all the vegetables, fruits and meat that can be used for filling. It depends on you which vegetable or fruit you like. You are not supposed to use all these ingredients, select few which you like most.

  • Avocado
  • Jalapeño 
  • carrots 
  • Chopped cauliflower
  • Red bell pepper 
  • Pineapple
  • Apple
  • Mango 
  • Chopped onion
  • Pear
  • Scrambled eggs
  • Raw salmon 
  • Smoked salmon 
  • Bluefin tuna 
  • Cooked crab meat 

 

Ingredients for tasty topping and serving 

  • Chopped or sliced almonds 
  • Fried slices of fish 
  • Chopped avocado
  • Sesame seeds
  • Soy sauce and seasonings 

Recipe to make perfect sushi at home. 

 

First step: make your rice ready. 

Add 2 cups of water in a bowl and let it boil, once it starts boiling add one or half cup or rice in the water. You have to cover the bowl for at least 20 minutes at the lower flame. Meanwhile, keep stirring after every 5 minutes. When the 20 minutes are completed, remove the bowl from the stove but let it covered for at least 10 minutes. After that, put some rice with the help of a spoon in a plate and check whether they are well cooked or not. Make sure your rice should be very soft and fluffy kind of. Otherwise, your sushi is gonna be a disaster. Lol. So, you have to be focused while preparing rice. 

 

2nd step: seasoning the rice

For this step, you need vinegar. You can use rice vinegar or white vinegar for the seasoning. You have to sprinkle salt and white/rice vinegar on the rice. Put your rice on the heat add salt and sugar according to your taste in ⅓ cup of vinegar. Dissolve sugar and salt in vinegar very well and pour over the rice. Mix the rice altogether with the help of a fork. Cover your rice with a paper towel after removing the bowl from the stove. Until now rice seasoning has been completed, so let’s go towards our next step. 

 

3rd step: Julienne your fruits and vegetables

Try to save your maximum time, when your rice is cooked and now let them cool. Meanwhile, start your preparation for vegetables (fruits if you are using any). So, make slices of all the vegetables. Slice them vertically in matchsticks one by one. This step is complete, let’s start rolling. 

 

4th step: wrap it up. 

Spread a sheet of Roasted seaweed / Nori on a bamboo mat or any plastic sheet. You should be very careful for the selection of seaweed sheets. They must be thick in texture and perfect. 

Spread your already cooked rice on the seaweed sheets. Be careful, because you are not supposed to smash the rice. Start placing your favorite ingredients one by one on the rice. I am using strips of salmon, Pickled cucumber, red onions, avocado, a pinch of salt and cheese. Wrap the roasted seaweed sheets tightly. 

 

5th step: cut the sushi

Ok, so now you have to cut the sushi into pieces of your own choice. Use a sharp to cut the sushi finely. 

 

6th step: Serve and Enjoy

Oh yes, our delicious sushi is ready to be served. You can use crushed almonds, chopped avocado, fried fish for the topping. You can also enjoy sushi with spicy mayonnaise, soy sauce or Wasabi.
